The way and manner they went about their business was mirrored in the exemplary life of Jesus Christ, modesty, humility and righteousness were his watchword. Christ’s early ministry from birth to ascension was characterized by certain tenets which himself admonished his disciples and followers alike to adhere. ‘Set your affections on things above’ the Bible says, but the very Men who are supposed to lead the flock of Christ by example now milk them dry.

That there are some pastors who are fleecing the sheep and whose god is their bellies, does not mean all wealthy pastors are scammers. In fact, they are often the biggest donors/givers in their church.

One cannot proclaim the Gospel of Jesus without the tangible witness of one’s life. Preaching with your life and witnessing for Christ with your life. Every Pastor’s action is the mirror which the world sees the Church of Christ. There should be modesty and humility in all they do.

The post Jesus the Homeless person appeared first on Scripture On Fire.

Impossibility made possible by God

Good News

Faith

God

The God of IMPOSSIBILITY God of impossibility promised Abraham “I will certainly return to you according to the time of life, and behold, Sarah your wife shall have a son.” Sarah at that point in life has passed the child bearing age. Sarah was listening in the tent door which was behind Abraham, when Sarah heard it, she laughed with doubts in her heart because from the human understanding it was not impossible for her to bear children anymore, which prompted God of impossibility to ask Abraham, “Is any thing too hard for the LORD?”(Genesis 18:14). Yes according to the time of life, God returned blessed Abraham and Sarah with a son Isaac “laughter”

“Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever. The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.” These were Moses words to the children of Israel in the wilderness, when the children of Israel lifted their eyes, and behold, the Egyptians marched after them, and were covered in fear. That God who make’s impossibility possible appeared and parted the Red Sea.

God of impossibility made impossibility possible when the children of Israel to walk on dry ground through the midst of the Sea and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand and on their left, while He made a show of the strongman Pharaoh and all his army and drown them all.

When the whole congregation of the children of Israel while in the wilderness complained of hunger. The God of impossibility rained bread from heaven for children of Israel (Exodus 16:2-4).

God of impossibility in Jeremiah 32:27 was asking the same question to all that doubted him or His capabilities, “saying, Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?”

Our God is indeed very great and generous! In Psalm 23:5, David said he was anointed to the point of overflow. At the marriage feast in Cana of Galilee, when they told Him they needed more wine, He gave them one hundred and eighty gallons of the types of wine they had never tested. With a boy’s meagre meal of two fishes and five loaves of bread, He feed five thousand excluding women and children, yet the leftover filled 12 baskets because His name is El-Shaddai – the God who is more than enough.

There is no god like the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, for He is in the business of making impossibility possible. The God of impossible, the God who gives life to what does not exist. You may think there are things still impossible with God everything is possible.

The post Impossibility made possible by God appeared first on Scripture On Fire.

Failure is a cross too heavy to bear

God's Word

Cross

Faith

A Feeling of Failure There is nothing more distressing than a feeling of failure. The realization that you have disappointed God, your family and friend is heart-breaking. The pain is accentuated by the knowledge it happened because of personal pride and over confidence.

The most prominent example of that type of person in the bible is Simon Peter. He was always an enthusiastic disciple of Jesus Christ, but his reply to the Lord’s warning was indicative of his character. Jesus said to him “Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat” (Luke 22:31).

And Peter replied Jesus, in so many words, “Lord, I am ready to go with you, both into prison, and to death” (Luke 22:33). Peter meant every word he uttered, but unfortunately when his brash statement was challenged, he failed. It was one thing to be boastful in the presence of other believers, but Peter’s true test of loyalty would come when he was surrounded by enemies.

When Peter realised he has denied Jesus three times before the Cock crows, just as Jesus as foretold earlier in the day before His arrest, he went out and wept bitterly with a feeling of failure. Peter would definitely believe he is the most despicable man on earth; such feeling of shame is often the greatest hindrance to many people returning to active service of Christ after failing in their relationship with Him.

To live with past failures is a cross too heavy to be carried. And to persist in doing so can easily become sinful especially when the Lord continues to call for the renewal of one’s vows. Jesus took all our sins and imperfection to the cross and made shame of them (1 Peter 2:24). We all make mistakes in life, but recovering and returning is what makes the difference. Lord knows all about our failures and still loves us, just as He knew about Peter’s failure even before it happened, but the knowledge never impaired His love for the over-confident follower. Instead of criticizing Peter, Jesus Prayed for him.

We should always remember mistakes may become stepping stones to greater heights of achievement, so do not feel ashamed of former failure. Put it behind you and move on with Jesus.

The post Failure is a cross too heavy to bear appeared first on Scripture On Fire.

Your Purpose on earth

God's Word

Faith

Jesus Christ

My Father’s Business His purpose on earth, Jesus Christ the Lamb of God knew from the onset. And when He was not found, they had no options but to return to Jerusalem, and continue their search for Him.

After three days they found Jesus in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions. When they saw Him, they were amazed; and Mary His mother said to Him My Son, why have You done this to us? Your father and I have anxiously searched for You for days. But Jesus’ answer in Luke 2:49 clearly showed He knew His purpose on earth. And He said to them, “Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?”

My question to you today, is “what is your purpose on earth?” This is a very difficult question for many to answer, because many have gone through life and many will go through life without knowing their purpose on earth. To my question, many will complain that Jesus is God and we as mere mortal lacking the ability to decipher our purpose on earth. But in Genesis 1:26-27, God said, “Let us make man in our image. After our likeness … So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him: male and female created he them.”

So if we were made in the image and likeness of God, we should be able to know our purpose on earth, for every man was made to fullfill a purpose in life, but many go through life without achieving their purpose. Any man that fail’s to achieve his purpose in life, has leaved a wasted of life.

We have been given the power to tread upon the lion and the cobra, so it is very easy for you to fullfill your purpose in life, all you need do is to connect yourself with your father the creator and see how everything He created bows before you.

“What is man, that thou art mindful of him? … For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.” (Psalm 8:4, 5)

The post Your Purpose on earth appeared first on Scripture On Fire.

You are special

God's Word

http://storify.com/dozie/you-are-special

The post You are special appeared first on Scripture On Fire.

http://storify.com/dozie/you-are-special

The post You are special appeared first on Scripture On Fire.

Just Start

Faith

There are times in life, we are faced with a situation that feels overwhelming and we’re afraid to make a move? Or maybe we’re saying no to something in our lives that we’d really like to say yes to.

The Lord has promised to be there for us; yes you may be afraid of starting a new relationship, new project or quitting a bad habit. Start where you are. Start poorly. Just start, put one foot in front of another like you’ve done all your life. If you already knew how to do it well. It wouldn’t be a lesson and you’d never have the thrill of victory, years from now looking back.

I will bring the blind by a way they did not know;
I will lead them in paths they have not known.
I will make darkness light before them,
And crooked places straight.
These things I will do for them,
And not forsake them.Isaiah 42:16

God has promised to take the hand of those who don’t know the way, to show them what roads to take. You say, but what if I get into difficulty? You probably will! But God says: When you’er in over your head, I’ll be there with you (Isaiah 43:2). But you’ve got to be willing to go I order for God to bring you through. In other words you have to be willing to get your feet wet. The thing to keep in mind is: God, who goes before you, He will fight for you, according to all He did for you in Egypt before your eyes (Deuteronomy 1:30)

I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn the darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do; I will not forsake them.

The post Just Start appeared first on Scripture On Fire.
