Jesus the Author and Finisher
There are many today that are being crushed under the weight of life’s never ending trouble and trails that come in different forms. Day after day, they keep on searching for relief and peace of mind, hoping against hope that somehow the day will come when they will get that singular break that will bring normalcy to their battered lives. Yet all they need is just one look at Jesus Christ the Author and finisher of our faith, who is not only able, but also willing to make a way even where there is no way.
There is much power in the human look. Whenever the eye focuses on any object; usually signals are sent to the brain, which turn can affect the mind, and sometimes the soul. Lot took a good look at the beautiful but destructive plains of Sodom, and instantly something registered on his mind, which led Lot to pitch his tents there, he was moved to choose based on what he saw (Genesis 13:10-12). What led Lot’s wife to become a pillar of salt? What led Achan to covetousness? What led David to adultery with Bathsheba? The power of look, no wonder Job made a covenant with His eyes (Job 31:1), and David prayed that God shields his eye from vanities (Psalms 119:37).
On a positive note however, the power of look has brought unprecedented relief and breakthroughs to many burdened souls. For instance, it took just a look at the bronze serpent made by Moses, for anyone bitten by the fiery serpent in the wilderness, to live (Numbers 21:9). Still today, Jesus is calling on the sons of men (Isaiah 45:22), because the world we live in bears much semblance to the wilderness the Israelites passed through. Serpents of all shapes and sizes abound – serpents of sin and sorrow, of sickness, disease,of oppression and affliction (curable and incurable) and many bitten souls struggle day in day out to be rid of the severe venom that renders them helpless amd miserable.
Here is the cure.Look at Jesus, for He has been lifted up on the cross to be looked at for salvation, healing, and deliverance. In Jesus is the cure for all human afflictions and infirmities. No one deserves to perish any longer from the venom of sin, sadness and sickness. Just one look at Jesus and you will live. Just one look at Jesus and you will not perish. One look will bring relief from your troubles and brazen serpent, the venom that no doctor could remove was instantly neutralised. Just one look at Jesus and hope will appear in the midst of hopelessness, the incurable will be cured, the immoveable will be moved, and the impossible will made possible. He gave the assurance Himself in John 3:14-15
